Hello Insidious Customers

As you may well have noticed, over the past year, Insidious Publications has been pretty stagnant. There are a lot of reasons for that. I’ll share a couple of them, but I’m pretty sure nobody wants to read the essay I could write detailing the entire situation.

Here it is in a nutshell. The economy and the (what seems to be) collapse of the small press market have taken a deadly toll on us. I’m not saying the small press market is gone, but it sure ain’t what it used to be and our sales numbers speak to that in volumes. Which is why, when our last title took 4 times longer to design and put together, then for an added bonus, cost us 3 times more to produce than expected…well. It’s obvious what it’s done to us.

We have taken the last several months to step back and look at the situation and have decided that the only course of action left to us, is to dissolve Insidious Publications. It was a hard choice to make and a serious kick to our pride, but really, we’re left with no other option. We can’t afford to continue in this turbulent atmosphere.

What this means—The Marquee lettered edition will not be produced and refunds will be given for that title. I apologize for that and ask for your patience concerning the refunds—more patience, I should say. I have money coming in from book projects I’ve done for other publishers and that money will be sent out to our customers who preordered that book. That’s first. Second, our subscribers to the lettered edition subscription list will be refunded. I again ask for you patience in that as well. You all have my word; every last one of you will receive any money you’ve paid towards any of our products that will not be produced.

With all that nastiness out of the way, I also have some goods news. Many of you have been waiting for James A. Moore’s title, The Wild Hunt. We have partnered up with Tom and Billie Moran at Sideshow Press to get this book produced and even better…at break-neck speeds! We have it ready to go and it should be off to the printer in early Feb. (Look for the announcement from Sideshow.) There is one other title we plan to partner with SSP to complete, but I’ll keep quiet about that for the time being, but believe me, you guys are gonna love it.

I appreciate everybody’s kindness over the past 6 or 7 years that we’ve been around. Maybe we’ll come back, maybe we won’t. I just don’t know. For now, I’ll be concentrating on my book bindery and try to build that business.

I could go on and on, but I think I’ve said enough. So, I’ll leave it at—Thank all of you and I’ll be talking to a bunch of you very soon.

Best,

Chris
